For my Technology class I had to build a Atari Punk Console (APC). It's a simple-ish circuit that produces a square wave sound.
I built it into an old NATO Army Ammunition box I found.
It's outfitted with an On/Off switch, Jack Output, and three knobs. One of the knobs controls the volume, the other two change parameters in the sound being produced.
As you can see a small circuit not too much stuff.

I included a small sound file so you can hear what it sounds like. The sound quality isn't great and the speaker installed in the APC is tiny so it's not that loud. (Turn up volume then).
